Natural Makeup Removers You can Find in Your Kitchen

Just came back home from a wedding function or a dinner date with your fiancĂ© or a party with your friends, what is the first thing you want to do? We are sure most of you would say, change and hit the bed.

But, here is what you should be doing -remove the makeup from your face, before you go off to sleep. All dermatologists and beauty experts often send out this piece of advice to the girls.

First thing which come in our mind is, Makeup wipes and liquid removers. They may seem convenient for removing makeup, but they can actually irritate your eyes and hurt your skin over time. This can be drying and irritating for some people, especially those with dry or sensitive skin. Also, some wipes contain alcohol, which can cause stinging.

Well, the days are gone when you have to spend time rubbing that stubborn mascara off your eyes, or buying a separate remover for normal makeup and eye makeup.

Here are a few natural ways to remove your makeup and refresh your skin without the use of harsh chemicals. These are effective, cheap as well as very safe:

So, go ahead and try these out!

Take 2 portions of pure olive oil with some water. Mix them well. Using it is very easy and safe too. But it is still better to do a skin patch test, before trying it.

You can also simply soak a cotton ball in the oil, and massage that on your face to remove the makeup and dirt. Make sure that you use a tissue or a clean towel to get rid of the excess oil before going to bed.

Olive oil will not only handle tough makeup products with ease, but will also calm down your irritated skin. Plus, this ingredient has anti-ageing properties.

2. Almond Oil and Whole Milk

Mix a tablespoon of milk, and a few drops of almond oil, and dab onto your face with cotton balls. Remove it off with fresh cotton balls; making sure that no traces of milk is left. This is a quick remover recipe that can be assembled in short time. It will also leave you face refreshed.

Milk is an amazing ingredient for your skin. It not only hydrates and moisturises your skin, but also replenishes the essential nutrients required by it.

3. Yoghurt

Just dip a clean cotton ball in some plain yoghurt and rub that on your face in circular motions. After that, rinse it off with some cold water.

It moisturises your skin and cleanses it as well.

4. Cucumbers

Yes, this healthy fruit can be a great makeup remover too. Just mash one cucumber into a paste, and use that to cleanse your face.

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, cucumbers are well known to soothe irritated and acne-prone skin. If the makeup is tough then you can add some milk or olive oil to it.

5. Jojoba and Vitamin E oil

Mix one capsule of vitamin E with 60ml of jojoba oil. Store this mix in a dark glass bottle, and use when required. It works best on those stubborn waterproof mascaras, liquid eyeliners, and blushes.

The jojoba oil is very similar to sebum produced by human body, while vitamin E has antioxidants necessary for protecting the skin from cosmetic damage. Both these ingredients provide a soothing and moisturising effect on the skin.

6. Coconut/ Olive Oil

One of the most effective makeup removers that can remove the toughest waterproof makeup, just needs one cup of water with an eighth teaspoon of olive/coconut oil and one and a half tablespoon of baby shampoo (tear-free). Mix them and shake them well, and use as required.

7. Coconut Oil
You can apply it directly as a natural cleansing oil, but just remember to wash your face once after you are done removing the makeup. Now, apply on the eyes or face to remove makeup quickly and effectively.

This magical ingredient can take care of even the most resistant waterproof makeups, like mascara, quite easily.Coconut oil is one ingredient that serves as remover, moisturiser, lip balm, and much more.

Stay Beautiful.

Get Rid Of Acne In Winter Season

During the winter, people typically experience drier skin due to a number of factors, including cold and windy weather and central heating. The exposure to drastic temperature changes tends to dry out the skin. In some cases, these factors may trigger the production of dry skin cells, which clog pores and lead to breakouts.

So here are a few tips and tricks that you can employ to keep your acne to the minimum this winter :

Clean Your Face:

Keeping your skin clean is very important during the winter season. Why? During the winter, the air is full of loose dust and sand and these particles can get stuck on your face and skin, especially when you’ve applied moisturizer and skin creams. You should clean your skin as early as possible.

Drink Lots Of Water:

Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. This tip is good all year around, not only for the winter months. This will allow your body to flush out the toxins right away. Usually these toxins are a major cause of acne flaring up.
Switch To Mild Cleanser:

Change your skin cleanser. You might not be aware of it, but there are different cleansers for different types of weather. For example, if you're using cleansers containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, they are not the best in winter. Why? Because they dry your skin - which you definitely want to avoid in winter. Switch for the winter months to milder cleansers, such as Dove or  Neutrogena , they're available pretty much everywhere.

You can also refer to other natural skin cleaning product such as plain milk, yogurt, and chickpea powder can remove dirt and grease without drying out your skin.

Moisturizing Is Important:

Keep your skin moist by using moisturizer. If you haven't used them yet, now it's the time to start. Make sure you use a moisturizing gel or lotion, not cream.

Acne Medication:

Cut back on using over the counter acne fighting medication, such as creams and lotions. They are great but definitely dry your skin (since one of the ways of fighting acne is to dry out the pimples). Winter is not the best time to have a dry skin, so I don't say stop using these, but use them every second day instead of every day.

Note: if you have doctor prescribed treatments, make sure you do not change those, not at least without your doctor's consent.

Breathe in fresh air every morning :

Due to the chill outside, people prefer to keep their windows and doors closed. But make sure that you air your room well so that the dry air leaves your room and is replaced with fresh air. Breathing in fresh air in the morning will rejuvenate your skin and keep winter acne at bay.

Exercise:

You need a way to sweat out the toxines during the winter. This is maybe one of the most overlooked home remedy that you can employ in winter. Basically what happens is, during summer, with exercise, sports, jogging, you sweat. Which means, through sweating you release all the toxins out of your body.

However during the winter, people become more sedentary in nature, and exercise much less than in summer. So you need to find a way to release those accumulated toxins during the winter as well. Find a nearby sauna , go to a gym, but don't stop exercising in winter.

Don’t pop!

Do not try to squeeze your pimples. By doing this, you will only allow the bacteria to spread all over your face, which in turn will flare up your acne, and you will end up with worse breakouts.

If you must do it, then please follow a few precautionary procedures: wash your hands with soap and use a soft tissue and squeeze just gently on the pimple. Do not try to go too deep and avoid spreading that puss all over your face. Once you removed the puss, wash your face and apply an antibiotic cream on it.

Do not go overboard with exfoliators:

Refrain from using exfoliating products during winters too often. You can scrub your face once a week. Too much of scrubbing may make your skin dry and eventually cause more breakouts.

Don't Over-Wash:

To help repair skin, avoid over-washing in the shower, since soap and hot water can strip skin of its natural oils." Additionally, "make sure to apply a layer of moisturizer right away to lock in moisture."

Use Humidifiers:

Humidifiers are ideal for reintroducing moisture back into the air inside your home, where the bulk of dry skin problems come from during the winter. Leave it on at night while you sleep and reap the benefits all season long by using it regularly. And if you don't have humidifier then, you can leave a bowl full of water in your bedroom. This is very old method but still it works.

Dr. suggests taking vitamins internally to level out oil production. Omega-3 Fatty Acids (most often found in fish), give the complexion positive oils. I am a vegetarian, so I turn to Flax Seed Oil, which, more or less, has the same effect.

Enjoy your winters! Stay Beautiful.

The secret of the aloe vera plant is in the transparent, juicy substance contained in its long, thick skinned leaves--The Aloe Vera Gel.

You can get Aloe Veera Gel directly from the plant or near by stores.Because of its vast applications now a days you can get it very easily.

Here are some uses:

- As a face wash

  • 1 tsp almond milk
  • 1 tsp lemon
Mix  three of them and let sit for a few minutes before rinsing. Since some minerals found in aloe are antibacterial, this face wash is ideal for sensitive skin

- As a soothing ice cube

Grab an ice cube tray, fill with aloe gel, and freeze. Pop them out and store in a freezer safe container. “These little frosty fellows are great after too much sun exposure, run-ins with your stove, bug bites, poison ivy, and even psoriasis."

- As a makeup remover

Squeeze a dollop of pure aloe gel onto a cotton ball and swipe away the day for a simple and effective alternative.

- As a shaving cream

In-the-know beauty buffs swear by pure aloe as the perfect shaving cream: It’s antibacterial, which is great for nicks; it’s slippery, allowing for a nice close shave; and it moisturizes, too.

- As an exfoliator

Mix 1/2 cup of aloe with just enough brown sugar or baking soda to get a gritty (but not sharp) texture. Then rub it on your elbows, heels, arms, or wherever else needs softening in the shower.

- For bad breath

When bad breath hits, drink up to 1/4 cup pure aloe vera gel dissolved in a 1/2 cup of water or apple juice, Aloe vera contains an anti-inflammatory compound called B-sitosterol that soothes acid indigestion, a common cause of bad breath.

- As an eyebrow gel

Dip a clean mascara wand in some aloe vera gel and sweep over stray brows for serious stay-put power without getting hard or sticky.

- For dry, cracked feet

Aloe moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it`s perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion.Once applied, it releases natural vitamins and enzymes on the skin to produce a deep moisturizing effect that helps to treat and restore its pH balance.
For women who use mineral-based make-up, aloe vera acts as a moisturizer and is great for the face prior to the application to prevents skin drying.
For men: Aloe vera gel can be used as an aftershave treatment as its healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving.

- Treats acne:

Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Giberellin in aloe vera acts as a growth hormone stimulating the growth of new cells. It allows the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring.

- Fights aging:
As we age, everyone begins to worry about the appearance of fine lines and the loss of elasticity in their skin. Aloe leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including, beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.

- Lip Care:

Heat a heaped teaspoon of petroleum jelly in a double boiler. After it melts, add half a teaspoon of fresh aloe vera gel and two drops of Vitamin E oil extracted from the capsule. Switch off the stove and blend this mixture well. Pour it in a tube or an old lip balm container when it is in the liquid state. Allow this lip balm to cool and thicken in refrigerator and start using it on your lips. This will cure dry and chapped lips very effectively than any other store bought lip balms.

Make aloe vera your daily companion to get a holistic health care at the comfort of your home. You don’t need to rely on harsh chemicals when you have a natural option to stay fit and look glamorous always.

Hope now you are going to make aloe vera a part of your daily life. Plant an aloe vera in your home today.

Vasline In Winter - A Boon

Jelly is the original wonder jelly
VaselineLipTherapyOriginal_inhands
You might be surprised of all of the things Vaseline can do for you.Petroleum jelly is fat. It's a purified mixture of semi-solid hydrocarbons derived from petroleum -- yes, the same petroleum used for gasoline and diesel fuels and other products such as deodorant and bubble gum. It's a staple in our medicine chests as a topical ointment and it's also used for everything from shining shoes to silencing a squeaky hinge. Petroleum jelly is an oil-based emollient (it repels water), which makes it a long-lasting lubricant to smooth and protect rough and dry skin. How? Emollients help to replace lipids by filling in gaps in between skin cells. The result? Soft, well-hydrated skin. It works by creating a sealing barrier between cells, which locks in moisture and speeds up your skin’s natural recovery from dryness, helping it heal from within.
How-to-Treat-Dry-Facial-Skin-585x536

1. Plagued by dry, cracked feet? A pedicure may be the first thing you think of but all you really need is a jar of petroleum jelly, a pair of socks and a good night's sleep. Smooth a thin layer of ointment on the top and bottom of each foot before going to bed (the socks help keep the jelly on your feet, not your sheets) and wake up in the morning to find hard skin has been softened and cracks gone. By healing dry, cracked and calloused skin, feet become more resistant to blistering and hot spots.

2. Our skin naturally has a mixture of oils (epidermal lipids) and water to help keep it soft but too much hand washing, a skin disease such as eczema or just normal aging can strip this protection and cause dry, irritated skin -- especially on our hands. The oils in petroleum jelly help to seal in moisture and the thick ointment stays on the surface of the skin longer than water-based lotions, promoting longer healing. Worried about greasy residue? Rub a small amount of jelly onto hands and cuticles until it soaks in and save the slathering for overnight when you can cover your hands with cotton gloves.

3.  When the external layer of our skin becomes dry, chapped and itchy,
it loses its ability to act as a protective barrier. Skin becomes prone to cracks, sensitivity and even infection. Pure petroleum-based ointments are hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, nonirritating, nonsensitizing and contain no added colors or fragrances -- all of which makes these moisturizers good for babies (on diaper rash), adults and everyone in between. Daily use on our bodies not only heals dry skin by sealing in moisture but protects skin from further damage by acting like a barrier against the elements.
To get the most bang from petroleum jelly, add it to a daily skin care routine, best used as a moisturizer applied to damp skin after a shower.
4. Petroleum jelly plays an important role in wound care, in minor and major injuries. As long as they're kept clean, minor cuts and scrapes generally heal just fine without treatment, but petroleum jelly or an antibacterial ointment can help speed things up and possibly prevent or minimize scarring.
5. If you don’t want to pay a lot for expensive lip balm, makeup remover, or even facial moisturizer, then your answer is a tube of petroleum jelly. It can soothe lips; take off foundation, eye shadow, mascara, and more. It will even act as a moisturizer on your face.

6. If you’ve run out of your favorite shade of eye shadow. What do you do now? It’s easy — make your own. Add a bit of food coloring to petroleum jelly and apply as usual. This is a quick way to make stopgap blush, lipstick, or eye shadow.

7. If you want natural beauty yes, you can get healthy and longer eyelashes. Lather Vaseline all over your eyelashes overnight and watch them thicken, even without a prescription.
8. Use petroleum jelly as mascara! Apply it with your fingers on your eyelashes and nobody will EVER know you are wearing anything because it goes on clear and still gives your lashes volume.

9. Hide Split Ends:Haven’t had a haircut since your budget only allows you go to Great Clips for a quickie? Hide damaged ends with a small amount on your ends.

10. Melt Vaseline and one chocolate chip in the microwave, mix and let re-solidify for chocolate lip gloss.
11. Mix with sea salts to make a scrub.
12. Warmed up can be used as a night cream.
13. It can prevent chilling of the face due to evaporation of skin moisture during cold weather.
14. Want a scent to last hours longer?

Then apply some Vaseline to the points where you spray your perfume, then spray your perfume on top of the Vaseline.
15. Are you a frequent flier? Even if you are not, always apply some Vaseline to parts of your body that are exposed to the air in the airplane, such as: hands, neck, face.
16. Mix some with aloe vera gel to create a quick healing lip balm.
17. Lubricates ear lobes and helps make earring insertion easy and painless.
18. Can protect against harmful hair dyeing.Dab a cotton ball in vaseline and used as a mask aroundthe hair line .
